Duo Zaher
Iranian twin sisters Sara and Sanaz were born in Tehran in 1990. They began their training at the age of 10 with Prof.Mehrdad Pakbaz. Before graduating from high school, they regularly performed solo and duo at many festivals such as the Iran Young Artists Festival, Tehran International Guitar Festival (2009-2011), 27th Fajr International Music Festival in Tehran. In 2010, Duo Zaher won the best interpretation prize at the Tehran International Guitar Festival in Iran.
After leaving Iran in 2015, they graduated from the Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in June 2018 under the guidance of Prof. Jorgos Panetsos. They then continued their Master studies in Arts Education (MAE) at the Music and Arts University of Vienna.
Sara and Sanaz’s repertoire ranges from Renaissance to contemporary music. They have played at many festivals throughout Europe and Asia, such as at the 30th anniversary of The International Guitar Festival Forum Gitarre Wien in 2020 and have collaborated with the Iranian New Age Group in Vienna as well as the Austrian Cultural Forum in Tehran.
As a Duo, they have also given concerts in countries such as Iran, Germany, Austria, Ireland, and Denmark and had the opportunity to perform in the master classes of Olaf van Gonnissen, Dale Kavanagh, Alfred Eickholt und Thomas Friedrich Kirchhof, Marcin Dylla, Duo Melis.
Presently, both Sara and Sanaz work as Music teachers in various music schools and Conservatoriums in Austria.
