Classical guitarist Ljubica Bukvić was born in Novi Sad, Serbia where she started her musical studies at the age of nine. She earned her Bachelor and Master degree in the class of professor Zoran Dukić at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, where she currently lives. Ljubica was also perfecting her playing with Professors Paolo Pegoraro and Adriano Del Sal at Segovia Guitar Academy in Pordenone, Italy.
During her studies career, she had the opportunity to attend masterclasses with well-known guitarists such as Hubert Käppel, Roberto Aussel, Carlo Marchione, Aniello Desiderio, Paul Galbraith and Costas Cotsiolis, among many others. This period has also brought some close collaboration with contemporary composers such as Feliu Gasull, who dedicated to her his Concert Study No.12 “De Ressonàncies”. Moreover, it has been a time when she has had the opportunity to be part of a different musical projects and chamber music formations, mainly focused on contemporary music. These two factors led her to became more interested and to be more involved in this kind of music which nowadays forms part of her extensive and diverse repertoire.
She won several international awards in various guitar competitions such as Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla; Spain, Veria International Guitar Festival, Greece; Braga International Competition for Classical Guitar, Portugal; Certamen Internacional de Guitarra de Barcelona Miquel Llobet, Spain; I Concurso de Guitarra de Girona Josep Ferrer, Spain; European Competition Citta di Gorizia, Italy; International Guitar Festival of Szeged, Hungary; Morski Festival Kitare, Slovenia.
In her native country she was named Laureate in a few national competitions and had also been awarded with the Fund for Young Talents of the Serbian Republic.
As a soloist and chamber musician Ljubica regularly performs concerts in Spain.
